Since starting my studies again I’ve been collecting links to interesting articles on the Interwebs using my delicious account . This morning I noticed I had 555 links. The majority of the links fall into a few defined categories: Mobile computing Google Android Apple iPhone Cloud computing The question now is, what do I do with all of these links? There is a search function in delicous and it searches the description, tag and notes field of the links.

This is bad. Really bad. So bad that one of the lead Android developers themselves are insinuating this is worth walking away from the platform. Jean-Baptiste Queru has just tweeted , “ To my Apple, Microsoft and Palm buddies: are you hiring to work on mobile stuff?” OUCH. First we heard it as a rumor – Google sent Cyanogen a C&D . Then we heard it from Google directly, albeit without names – here is why we sent the C&D .

Knockoffs are nothing new, but usually they run some weirdo OS that’s skinned to look like the original, as with the HiPhone . Not so in this case: since Android is freely available to install on any hardware whatever, the primary difference will be the hardware, which doesn’t look that bad. The Tiger G3 is obviously a Hero knockoff, but it’s got a front-facing camera and DTV antenna — for $140 it might be worth grabbing just so you can pretend you have the original.

You know something’s a pretty big deal when Google feels obligated to respond to a situation. Such is the case with the recent situation going down between the Android team and Cyanogen . Today sees Dan Morrill dropping by the official Developer blog to weigh in on the confusion surrounding what is considered Google, Android, and/or open source. Although they never mention the specific modifications, everybody knows who they are referring to. With a high-quality open platform in ha

There have been a lot of rumors about the possible launch dates of some of the hottest mobile phones for the second half of the ongoing year, and now it seems that at least some of them prove to be real. No official announcements have been made so far, at least none that we know of, yet it seems that Vodafone is about to include very appealing new devices in its offering. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X2 is one handset that stirred people’s interest for quite some time…

The HTC Hero is Sprint’s first phone built around Google’s Android operating system , and it’s coming out on Oct. 11 for $179 with a two-year contract. Having played with it for just a few minutes so far, it’s a sleek, comfortable machine with a seemingly intuitive interface. In fact, the software is not wholly unlike the webOS on the Palm Pre. Not identical, but if you’ve flipped through cards and popped up the menu on the Pre, you’ll be thumbing through the Hero in no time.

We all know that Motorola is nowhere near the dominating force in the cell phone industry as it has been in the past. There are so many other competitors these days, so it’s harder than ever for Moto to rise back to the top. The Motorola CLIQ is supposed to be one of the biggest new offerings in quite some time, but how does it stand up to scrutiny? The Boy Genius Report was lucky enough to get a review unit, even if it may not be the final production version.
