Is the mobile operating system Android a threat to the iPhones high standing in the marketplace? Not quite, but it could be. The only phones that Android is available on are the G2 Touch, HTC G1, Samsung 7500, HTCMagic and most recently, the HTC Hero (which I bought). It has been gaining popularity slowly, but surely. Certainly, the volume of Android apps currently available pales in comparison with the iPhone, Android is still an infant. Thats not to say that the apps are not powerful, they are, very much so.

Numerous rumors are circulating on the Internet and elsewhere that Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 or Rachael, as it is better known, will makes its debut in January 2010. While the extent to which these rumors may be true cannot be judged, there is a possibility that Sony Ericsson may after all make the launch. The rumor first appeared on MobileCrunch . Many hard core gamers prefer to play their favorite games on the PC using a headset or headphones rather than using speakers. This is because the headphones allow you to hear more of the nuances of the in-game sound and some gamers feel they can hear where their enemy is. SteelSeries makes a full line of gaming peripherals and the company has announced that it has launched the latest version of its Siberia headset called the Siberia v2. The headset is a full-size unit with an invisible…

The floodgates have burst or at least sprung far bigger leaks than before and the in-the-wild shots of HTCs upcoming super-smartphone are proliferating. Next up with the HTC Leo is Greek site Techblog.gr, who managed to grab some hands-on time with the 4.3-inch Qualcomm Snapdragon WinMo 6.5 handset. According to them, the Leo will launch as the HTC HD2; at least, thats what the smartphones Bluetooth setup screen suggests. That would certainly fit in with the branding on the back of the handset, which reads HTC PRO.THREE, together with earlier suggestions…

19Sep/090The Google Voice drama is still unfolding, much like a plot involving Eastenders’ Peggy Mitchell. Google has told the Federal Communications Commission (Chairman Julius Genachowski appears on our T3 Tech 100 list) that Apple has rejected their Google Voice app, however Apple is denying they’ve done so, in a very public war of words that resulted in Google’s letter to the FCC being published online. Google reportedly requested the FCC to investigate why the app was removed from the App Store in July, and yesterday the published documents showed that Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior VP, told Google in July that they weren’t going to allow the money-saving app onto the App Store.
